How to Shine on Valentine's Day

February 6, 2019

With Valentien's Day just a hop, skip and a jump away, theres no better time than now to start prepping your skin for maximum glowiness. So what if you didn't stick to your resolution to eat better and workout can still have a flawless face with these five helpful tips!

Tip #1 - Stay hydrated to help detox your body and reduce puffiness by flushing out the excess sodium in your system from holiday feasting. Lemon water is a great way to hydrate, alkalize your system, increase metabolism, and aid in digestion. Superfood smoothies are another fantastic way of loading up on essential vitamins and minerals. Throw in a much of fresh fruit, a handful of spinach or kale (chock full of antioxidants), a scoop of protein-rich almond butter, some flax seeds, chia seeds, and coconut water, and witness yourself starting to feel beautiful from within.

Tip #2 - Catch up some on your Zzzzs. Not getting enough sleep can result in puffy bags under the eyes, dark circles, and dryness. Sleep deprivation can cause a decrease in blood flow to the skin, causing it to look a bit lackluster and drab. More sleep = a healthier glow. Even if you have to rock a few disco naps during the day, your body will definitely thank you.

Tip #3 - Give your skin some daily TLC, and be sure to keep your face moisturized both day and night. A great beauty regimen should include: cleansing, toning, applying eye cream, serum, and moisturizer. And theres no need to buy expensive beauty products to get your pretty mug in tip-top shape. I personally swear by beauty oils like argan, sea buckthorn, grapeseed, hemp, and rosehip seed - theyre packed with mega moisture, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.

Tip #4 - Slough off dry, dead skin cells by exfoliating your face with an all-natural scrub. (see recipe below). Itll help even out skin tone, create a smoother appearance, and reveal beautiful, glowing skin.

Tip #5 - Treat yourself to some all-natural, non-toxic makeup that packs a punch (and is actually good for your skin). I personally love the brand 100% Pure. Their makeup is formulated with fruit and veggie pigments, skin-lovin oils, waxes, and butters, and they out-perform many conventional cosmetics IMHO. Glam it up with some some sparkly shadows, a bold red lip, winged liner, and a beautiful smile - badda bing, badda boom!

Have a beautiful day, and continue to shine from the inside out! xo
