Jean LaMantia graduated with honours from the University of Guelph with a honours bachelor of applied science in human nutrition degree. She completed her clinical dietetic internship at the Toronto Western Hospital. She has worked in-patient, out-patient, home-care and private practice.
Jean is a cancer survivor who lives her life to reduce the risk of recurrence. She was an integral member of her father’s support team when he was diagnosed with a rare cancer in 2008. She is the ideal person to write a book for the cancer patient and their caregiver, understanding the professional and personal side of this role.
In her current position, Jean provides cooking demonstrations and lectures for members at Wellspring, a cancer support agency where she develops and presents nutrition and cooking demonstrations for members, writes a blog and researches the latest science between nutrition and cancer. She is a popular speaker and former freelance columnist with the Toronto Star, and has appeared on local and national TV, radio and print.
Jean is the editor of the Oncology Network Infoletter, which is a publication for Registered Dietitians in Canada who work in the field of oncology. Jean lives in Toronto, ON with her partner and two children.
