Dr. Neil Berinstein, MD, FRCP (C), ABIM, is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and a practicing Medical Oncologist at the Odette-Sunnybrook Cancer Centre in Toronto, Canada. He has trained in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology at the University of Toronto and did post-doctoral research training in molecular immunology and immunotherapy at Stanford University (CA, USA). He has held numerous leadership positions in the field of oncology including Head of the Hematology Site group and founding Director of the Advanced Therapeutics Program at the Odette-Sunnybrook cancer centre, Program Head for the Cancer Vaccine Program at sanofi pasteur from 1998 until 2009 and most recently has joined the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research.
Dr. Berinstein has a long track record in immunology and immunotherapy research and has published approximately 100 manuscripts in scientific and clinical journals. He has contributed chapters to books on cancer therapy and vaccines and holds multiple patents in this field. He is an active member of several Scientific Advisory Boards as well as a member of the Executive Committee of the Cancer Immunotherapy consortium sponsored by the Cancer Research Institute. Dr. Berinstein is committed to the development of novel strategies--both therapeutic and dietary--to harness the immune system--to better control or cure cancer.
