Sharon Zeiler

Sharon Zeiler, B.Sc, M.B.A., R.D. is the Senior Manager, Nutrition Initiatives & Strategies at the Canadian Diabetes Association. Sharon has a long standing interest in ensuring that consumers are served by well educated and experienced healthcare professionals who have opportunities to develop skill and expertise.

Sharon graduated from the University of Toronto, where she majored in nutrition sciences. She received her MBA from the Schulich School of Business, York University, with a double major in Organizational Behaviour and Social Marketing. This specialty is often helpful in the development of resources and the dissemination of nutrition guidelines and information.

Sharon joined the Canadian Diabetes Association in 1999. She works with and supports many of the Canadian Diabetes Association’s expert committees. These committees define guidelines for the management of diabetes, develop tools and resources to assist healthcare practitioners to implement them, and advise the organization on nutrition-related policies.

Sharon is a member of government health committees where she advises on and advocates for healthy eating and active living. Assisting health educators to help consumers make healthy food choices to prevent the onset of diabetes or other chronic diseases is an aspect of Sharon’s work which are a logical extension of her own interest in good nutrition.
