Sobia Khan

Sobia Khan, RD, MSc is a professor in food and nutrition at the Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts (CHCA) at George Brown College in Toronto. She is also a registered dietitian and has worked in various areas relating to nutrition prevention and management of diabetes such as the Diabetes Comprehensive Care program at St. Michael’s Hospital.

Sobia obtained her bachelor of science in biology and pharmacology at McMaster University. She then completed her dietetic internship at The Hospital for Sick Children and her master of science in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto.

Sobia's academic honours and achievements include the University of Toronto Gordon Cressy Award for Achievement in Community Leadership, the Dietitians of Canada International Travel Award for Novice Researchers and received the Top 30 under 30 award by the Ontario Hostelry Institute for achievement in hospitality and foodservice industry.

Sobia is passionate about the area of diabetes especially working in culturally diverse communities. Having diabetes in her own family, she feels motivated to create culturally focused resources, education and recipes that will assist multicultural communities at risk.
