Barbecued Caesar

December 28, 2017

You can further garnish this unusual take on a Caesar — the brunch drink favored by Canadians — by replacing the celery with a skewered cooked shrimp, or skewer a cocktail onion, a folded slice of salami and a pimento-stuffed olive.

Ingredients Makes 1 serving

2⁄3 cup tomato-clam juice or tomato juice 150 mL
1 tbsp smoky barbecue sauce 15 mL
11⁄ oz chili pepper vodka or vodka 40 mL
3 ice cubes 3
Celery salt, for rimming
1 celery stick 1
1 lime wedge 1

  1. In blender, on high speed, blend tomato-clam juice, barbecue sauce, vodka and ice until smooth.
  2. Pour into a highball or old-fashioned glass rimmed with celery salt. Garnish with celery and lime.
